"4. The human need to belong can be a major weakness." Absolutely 100%! I can't listen or read hardly anything anymore without hearing, "human beings are herd animals", "human beings have to be part of a group" and so on and so forth. 30 years ago I used to hear that if a person cannot be content in their own skin *without* being part of a group, they are mentally ill. I still believe this today. People in herds go over cliffs... together! I'm proud to say that I've never really been a herd member. I can get together in a group *to accomplish a goal* and then happily return to either being by myself, or with one or two people I actually care about. I have never felt the need to belong to a herd or a group. In fact, I avoid it at all cost. I like being an individual with my own hopes, beliefs and dreams. I don't need to be part of some group's issues to be happy. F that. Anyway, sorry for the rant and what a great list Dollyboy!
I'm late to this party. Yours is a list of canny and insightful thoughts. And to think that people such as yourself are capable of such clear-sighted and piercing thinking in the morning, and on the other hand I'm not even able to discern if I've put my underwear on the right way, or even if I put any on at all.
Thanks for sharing; there's much to think about and, by your leave, I'd like to come back at a few of those thoughts with some of my own (late afternoon-into evening) thoughts that reading your thoughts have made me think about.
Bravo. I think I'll print this out, frame it & give it to my family for Christmas.
I found mysekf saying a silent 'yes' to so many of your points. I particularly like the points about having class, style & grace. There is not enough of that around anymore.
In some ways it put me in mind of the poem 'If' by Rudyard Kipling.
All but #8, mate 😁😶🌫️. A worthy checklist, every morning, on waking. I would replace 8 with; "tsk tsk" every poor soul still wearing a (terror) 😷 mask...
