Good article. Plastic recycling is a complete sham. I stopped recycling my trash years ago. Bit of trivia: plastics are made from petroleum; the oil industry makes more $ from plastics than from selling gasoline.
I switched to glass and metal years ago when I realized how wasteful this plastic is. I still use plastic for a few things and, unfortunately, there are a few items I purchase that don't come in glass jars anymore but, even for those things, I often make my own condiments, etc from scratch and store in glass. Um... we used to do all of this in my grandparents and parents days. Why can't we still do it? We have been duped into thinking it's "convenient" to just grab this garbage off of the shelf. While the medical industrial complex, the oil companies, and pharmaceutical companies laugh all the way to the bank.
Not to mention the literally trillions of single use face masks that were discarded in the last few years. But hey, at least we banned drinking straws.
I prefer my plastic to be sent to Indonesia to be burned so THEIR air can be filled with toxic smoke to kill THEIR children so our air quality metrics look better.
Makes me feel so pious, as I separate all the different plastic numbers.
Interesting article. Think of all the different bins we have now too (ironically made from plastic); general waste, recycling & green waste. They probably all go to the same dump.
We even have little FOGO bins provided by the council (made from plastic) together with special biodegradable bin liners that we are supposed to keep on our kitchen bench for food scraps. They then get transferred to the green bin once full (they tried to fine my sister-in-law once for putting the wrong thing in her green bin).
What an absolute joke it has all become, and plain as day that it is all just a money making racket. We are forced to comply somewhat because our general waste bin is half the size of the others & only gets emptied once a fortnight. Grrr.
Yeah ... it is a broken system from the start. Formalised "recycling" is just another pointless work-around for an inherently bad initial idea ie. consumerism.
Watching fallout the series and yeah these boomers came up with some crazy shit. Plastics makes sense to them. They were like the people who weren't taught to think about the life cycle after you get rid of something.
A lot of them have fancy degrees and still can't do this.
Coles, Woolworths recycling scheme collapses after secret stockpiles revealed
Australia’s largest plastic bag recycling program has collapsed amid revelations hundreds of millions of bags and other soft plastic items dropped off by customers at Coles and Woolworths are being secretly stockpiled in warehouses and not recycled.
Instead of being taken to companies that use the plastic to make other items, REDcycle has been transporting the plastic to warehouses for long-term storage in what some experts consider a potential environmental and fire safety risk.
Good one Dollyboy. Don't forget the good ol' phthalates and low testosterone. The last thing we need is a bunch of high testosterone men running around disrupting the well laid out plans of our superiors !

Simple as.
(Bravo, mate).
Well they’re brown people aren’t they? No one cares about brown people. It’s how we got so rich. Cheers!
Also,
I see Bill Hicks.
I clicks.

Watch the blank expressions on sales people's faces when you ask them about the end-of-life disposal of their "marvellous" product.
Speaking of which - remember this boomer plastic madness. Many broken brains were had:

It's a special kind of stupid that invents recycling to cover up the truth.
All of the sociopaths intelligence goes to covering up their own fuck ups to keep the gravy train rolling lol.

Good point! A whole post could be written on microplastics alone ... I would but feeling a bit flat these days on accounts of my low sperm count ...
Ha Ha - me too !
